Mr. Speed is a seasoned banker with over 16 years of experience encompassing virtually every aspect of banking.  His particular expertise includes retail banking, commercial banking, capital markets, and wealth management activities. As a Vice President for the Consulting Services Group, Mr. Speed is responsible for leading Market View engagements with banks and credit unions with a focus on increasing profitability through identifying revenue gaps.  He has been the project lead on many successful projects, ensuring the clients receive responsive communication, combined with effective implementation and monitoring assistance.

Prior to joining Ceto and Associates, Mr. Speed’s career included serving as Vice President of a large regional bank; Operations Manager for a capital markets group, and multiple roles leading retail and commercial teams to top performance.

Representative Accomplishments

  • Served as project consulting manager for revenue enhancement engagements for various commercial banks and credit unions, resulting in significant and sustainable increases in revenue and profitability. Increased the level of earning assets for multiple institutions through reclassifying deposits and more efficiently managing cash ordering and delivery schedules.
  • Managed multiple retail teams, obtaining impressive growth while maintaining excellence in customer satisfaction. This experience includes managing multiple branches as well as retail mortgage production.
  • Responsible for a $50 million dollar commercial loan portfolio, excellent understanding of both small business and C&I lending; including underwriting and cash-flow analysis. Experiences include SBA lending, leasing, commercial lines of credit, treasury management products, and commercial deposits.
  • Sophisticated capital markets background, very knowledgeable of complex financial instruments related to interest rate derivatives and foreign exchange, such as forwards, swaps, options and other hedging tools. Additional experience includes project management and systems implementation and testing.
  • Strong regulatory background, familiar with all critical banking regulations such as Dodd Frank and Regulation E, as well SEC reporting requirements and Schedule RC-L for derivatives and off balance sheet items.
